Justin Chao
Children's Ministry Coordinator
Justin was born and raised in Queens, then moved to
Long Island in high school, where he attended Syosset High, home
of alumni Natalie Portman, Idina Menzel and Adam Pascal [his brother
and Natalie were classmates! Zoiks!] He received his BA in East Asian
Studies and Educational Studies at Colgate University [no, they don't
make their own toothpaste there] and his MS in Early Childhood & Elementary
Education at Bank Street School of [Progressive & Controversial]
Education. God started his journey in youth & children's ministry
in YoungLife where he met his disciple Anthony [who was a groomsman
at his wedding 8 years later]; since then, he's served as a youth
leader, Sunday school teacher, and summer camp coordinator. His smarter
and better looking other half, Carol, is a domestic engineer/biblical
counselor; they live in Westchester with their chubby-cheeked daughter
Verity. They enjoy eating, cooking, hiking, surfing, reading, and
church living. Justin is an aspiring unpublished author who has not
yet written anything.

Emmanuel Presbyterian Church is a congregation
of the Presbyterian Church in America. We believe in
the historic Christian faith as summarized is the Apostles'
and Nicene Creeds. We call ourselves "Emmanuel" (God
with us) because we believe that Jesus' substitutionary
death and poured out Spirit have brought God near. God's
nearness brings life to all that we do – to our worship,
our friendships, our families, our thought life, our
studies, and our work. We embrace Emmanuel's love for
the city and seek to share his beauty, truth, healing
and goodness with the communities where we live and
work, particularly the communities of Morningside Heights.
